Hello! My name is Kylee, and I am starting a blog about all things crafts...but mostly crochet (it is where my heart really lies). I really have been loving everything granny square lately so I thought what better than a sunflower granny square! I think that these turned out really super cute and they are beginner friendly. So lets get started!

What you will need:
4.00 mm hook (Size G)
Scissors
Weight 4 Yarn (1,2,4 yarns are Big Twist Value 100% acrylic yarns) These are the colors Chocolate Brown, Camel, and Slate Blue. (The yellow yarn is the Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Lemon) I bought these yarns from Joann.com.

Abbreviations:
Ch- Chain
Sc- Single Crochet
Dc- Double Crochet
Tc- Triple Crochet
Row One:
Take your first yarn color (Chocolate brown if you are following me to do the sunflower version) make a slip knot and ch 5.

Place your hook into the 1st chain and join with a slip stich to create a loop. Ch 3 (This counts as the first dc)

and then continue to make 15 dc into the loop. You will have 16 dc in total.

Join into your first dc (The top of the ch 3) with a slip stich. Fasten off your first color. (You can do this by chaining 1 and cutting the yarn.

Row Two:
Take your second yarn color (Camel for the Sunflower Granny Square) and attach it to where you left off. I do this by inserting my hook into the last slip stitch and ch 2.

Now we are going to make puff stitches. To do this yarn over insert your hook into the same space of the ch 2. Then you yarn over again and pull up a loop the size of a dc. Yarn over insert hook into same stitch and yarn over again then pull up a loop the same size of the last. Do this until you have 7 loops on your hook.

Now yarn over and pull through all loops. Chain 1.

Now we are going to complete 15 more puff stitches. For a total 16 total puff stitches.

Insert hook into first puff stitch and make a slip stitch. Fasten off.

Row Three:
For this row we are going to be making bobble stitches. Take your third yarn color (Lemon) and make a slip knot on your hook. Yarn over and insert your hook in one of the ch spaces.

Next, yarn over and pull through stitch. Pull through two loops.

*Yarn over insert hook in stitch yarn over and pull through stitch, then pull through two loops.* Do this twice more. You will now have five loops on the hook.

Yarn over and pull through all of the loops. Ch 2.

Complete this process until you have 16 bobble stitches in total. On the last bobble only ch 1 (instead of 2). Insert hook into first stitch and make a slip stitch.

Fasten off.

Row Four:
Take your fourth yarn color and attach it in one of the ch spaces, ch 3.

Make 2 dc in the same space. ***In the next space make 3 tc, ch 2, and make 3 more tc in the same space. (This with form the corner of the granny square).

In the next space make 3 dc. Make 3 hdc in the space after that. 3 dc in the next.

Repeat from *** until you reach the last space. Join with a slip stich into the top of the ch 3 at the beginning. Fasten off.

You have officially complete a Sunflower Granny Square!

I am excited to see what everyone does with these adorable creations! I'm going to be making a tote bag with all of mine! I have crocheted 27 for the project. Stay tuned for the post! Thank you so much for ready my blog! I would love suggestions for what to crochet next!
